STEPHEN Creed narrowly missed out on winning the French Seniors competition after taking the eventual winner to the fourth extra play-off hole.
Creed, flying the flag for Stratford-on-Avon Golf Club and England, took Scotland’s Ronnie Clark to four extra holes following a three-way 54 holes tie on 224 at Seignosse near Biarritz, France.
The Stratford golfer has notched up lots of World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) points to elevate him to 83rd in the over 55’s rankings.
Creed backed up his performance in France with a ninth-place finish at the West of England Seniors event. He is now seventh in the England Order of Merit.
Creed hopes to secure an automatic place in the US Seniors Amateur in 2025 which requires a top-25 ranking and has a busy schedule over the next few months on the seniors’ circuit in order to achieve his goal.
Elsewhere, Gillian Curley and Anne Parry claimed a hat-trick of R and A’s Coronation Foursomes titles with their third successive victory as Stratford’s representatives in qualifying.
And the pair hope it will be third time lucky when they compete in the regional area finals at South Staffs Golf Club in July with the Grand Final at St. Andrews later this year.
