New DB Cooper evidence?

New evidence may finally solve the mystery of the plane hijacker known as DB Cooper.

A band of amateur scientists selected by the FBI to look for clues in the 1971 hijacking analyzed particles removed from a clip-on tie left behind by Cooper. The particles include rare earth elements that are typically used in the aerospace industry.

Now, the researchers are looking for people who might have information on the aerospace industry in the Puget Sound area in the 1970s, particularly work done by Boeing, which was developing a high-tech supersonic transport plane at the time. The elements found on the tie were used in the plane's construction.

The man known as D.B. Cooper was last seen in November of 1971, wearing a business suit as he jumped out of the back of a plane carrying $200,000 in cash. His fate - and true identity - remain unknown.
